This series was made documenting a public slaughter that took place in October 2016 during the Alpine Music Festival "Alpenspektakel" at the organic hotel of Gut Sonnenhausen (Glonn, Bavaria). The slaughtered pig had had a happy life on the nearby farm of Herrmannsdorf.
The killing was carried out with great respect and care by experienced butchers. Festival guests were invited to watch the slaughter with the intention to recall the origins of our food, which we are less and less aware of in our contemporary society. Throughout the whole day, people could try various dishes prepared with the pig's meat. All of its enjoyable parts were cooked and eaten, respecting the "Nose to tail" philosophy.
